HICKSVILLE, NEW YORK — Feb. 22, 2021 — Laserfiche — the leading SaaS provider of intelligent content management and business process automation — today announced the winners of the 2020 Laserfiche Run Smarter® Awards. Among the winners was Connecticut Attorneys Title Insurance Company (CATIC), an Accelerated Information Systems customer, which received the award in the Regional Choice, North America category. The Run Smarter Awards were launched in 2005 to recognize organizations that use Laserfiche to improve productivity, innovate processes and achieve exceptional business results.
Prior to Laserfiche, CATIC’s business processes were completely manual and paper-based. Each process involved paper forms that needed to be physically moved between stakeholders. CATIC initially implemented Laserfiche for its document management and automation capabilities but has since expanded the system to create its own automated process improvement platform, reclaiming valuable staff time and company resources.
With Laserfiche Forms and business process automation, CATIC created its own automated continuous improvement platform called Project LOL (Lean on Laserfiche) using the lean methodology. To automate the process, Christion Cooper, Senior Business Analyst at CATIC designed a Laserfiche Form for each step of the improvement process. An automated workflow created in Laserfiche routes information to relevant personnel and also allows tasks to be assigned based on level of difficulty and the degree to which they will improve employee life. The least time-consuming, most impactful tasks are assigned first for motivating quick wins.

Implementing Project LOL has done more than improve staff life, it has also resulted in huge savings for CATIC. With just the improvements made to the organization’s records management department and claims process alone, CATIC is saving over $200,000 annually in payroll, processing time, paper and toner. Before Laserfiche and Project LOL, it took 11 days and nine steps to process a new policy. It now takes only six days, four steps, and under seven minutes in manual work. CATIC plans to optimize Project LOL even further by implementing Laserfiche Workflow Bots — robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities in the Laserfiche platform — and projects a savings of $2.2 million annually.
